Hiring of foreign workers allowed for 3 subsectors

Employers in the three sectors of labor and agriculture can apply for quotas for foreign workers, human services officials said.

In a statement, the ministry said that applications for these sub-categories opened on January 25, with three different ministries in charge of applications. These three sections are Eggs, Scrap and Bird’s Nest. The Ministries of Internal Trade and Housing, Housing and Agriculture and Food Security will be in charge of individual submissions. “Employers in these sectors can submit applications for the recruitment of migrant workers through the Overseas Work Centralized Management System (FWCMS) platform under the FWe Approval Module to obtain the approval of the Director General of the Department of Labor of Peninsular Malaysia (JTKSM).

“Recruiters can submit quota requests through the eQuota module after getting approval from the JTKSM Managing Director,” he said. Last month, Putrajaya announced that 500,000 foreign workers from 15 Asian countries would be brought in to be employed in sectors that do not attract local workers, including plantations, agriculture and construction. .

The government also has a relaxed stance on hiring migrant workers although this is limited to manufacturing, construction, horticulture, agriculture, and the food and beverage industry.
